Discuss with your child all the sources of water and ask them to name the ways in which we use water. Discuss how important water is and how essential it is for humans, animals, plants etc.
Go to page 89 in Earthlink the green SESE Book. You will find this book in the bag of books you collected last Thursday. In 'A' Draw 4 ways we use water and then in 'B' talk about how we can save water and the things we can do to avoid wasting water. Then colour the pictures that show water being wasted.
Question for you: Can you guess what percent or how much of the earth’s surface is covered with water? See if you can guess first and then find out. Answer next week if you don’t get a chance to look it up.
Go to page 88 of your Earthlink SESE Book and look at the pirate’s map.
How many islands can you see?
What is surrounding each island?
What do you think an island is?
How would you explain what an island is?
Yes an island is a piece of land surrounded completely by water. Do you think we live on an island? Yes you’re right. Ireland is an island because it is completely surrounded by water.
Follow the instruction 1-6 on page 88 and enjoy colouring and filling in the pirate’s map.
