The best way for young children to explore Gaeilge is by speaking it and listening to it.
I am aware that can be a challenge when trying to teach it at home so even if the children can practise some of the Gaeilge we use regularly in school that will be beneficial to them.
Rhymes, cartoons, songs and the occasional conversation will help the children to keep their grá for the Irish language. I will post rhymes regularly that they have previously learned. Listening to cartoons and familiar fairy tales in Irish will help the children to recognise familiar words. Songs are a great way for young children to develop a language. I have added links to some well known songs in Irish.
Cúla4 is a children's channel through Irish. They have plenty of familiar fairy tale stories and rhymes that the children will enjoy listening to. Stories include:
Little Red Riding Hood
Goldilocks and the Three Bears
**Helpful hint: If you use the search bar on the Cúla4 link and put the story you are searching for in English. it will still find the story in Gaeilge**
