The best way for young children to explore Gaeilge is by speaking it and listening to it.
We are aware that can be a challenge when trying to teach it at home so even if the children can practise some of the Gaeilge we use regularly in school that will be beneficial to them.
The programme we use in school, Bua na Cainte, has become available for parents to use at home.
1- Go to www.edco.ie/bua for download option. 2- Select for mac or pc....PC works for android 3- Choose the folder for Senior Infants 4- Select the option for "Direct Download" (it will take a few minutes to download) 5- Username: trial and password: trial
The children have covered most of these topics already.
This week they could start at the beginning and look at the conversations, stories, songs, rhymes and games for An Trá (The Beach)
The children particularly enjoy the songs, rhymes and game sections of this programme.
The children can work through each lesson starting with Ceacht 1 (Lesson 1).
Cúla4 is a children's channel through Irish. They have plenty of familiar fairy tale stories and rhymes that the children will enjoy listening to. Stories include:
Little Red Riding Hood
Goldilocks and the Three Bears
**Helpful hint: If you use the search bar on the Cúla4 link and put the story you are searching for in English. it will still find the story in Gaeilge**
