Art at the Seashore

If you go for a walk down by the seashore, you could create some beautiful art down there. Here are some ideas or you can make up your own!
If you can't go down to the beach, you can create some beautiful art at home. Here are some ideas for you to try out.

African Art Ideas

There are 54 countries in Africa and they all have their own customs and traditions. There are lots of different types of homes and people living in Africa. They have lots of colourful clothing and some countries have many tribes that live very different to how we live. Click on the pictures below for more information on how to create these lovely pieces of art.

Djembe means ‘to Gather in Peace’, and these drums are usually used to spread some peace and happiness among the people. Mainly from West Africa, this drum is shaped like a goblet. Make different versions of this drum at home using plastic cups, masking tape, the wide end of a balloon for the top of the drum and an elastic band to hold it in place.

This is the ‘Mbira’, an African instrument where the metal pins are played using the thumbs. Make your own mini version of this piano using wood, bobby pins and a staple gun with help from an adult.

Click on the picture for instructions on how to make it.

A lot of children in Ireland play Xs and Os but in Ghana the children play Achi.

They usually mark the game board on the ground and use little sticks as playing pieces. One player will have four little sticks with the bark on, and the other player will have four sticks with the bark off.

A game board like those used for Achi was found carved into a roofing slab of the temple at Al-Qurna in Egypt. It dates from 3,500 years ago.

You can click on the image to the right to learn how to make your own Achi board.

Rainforest Art Ideas

Here are some art ideas based around the theme 'The Rainforest'. Just click on the picture and it will take you to the website with instructions on how to make it. There are also some great 'How to draw ..." videos on Art for Kids Hub on YouTube that we included below. Have fun!

We would love to see your creations if you do make any of them or if you make up your own rainforest art ideas that would be even better!! Feel free to e-mail your teacher with pictures of your art or send them to us on Twitter @MsONeillsClass and @MsHudsonsClass1 and we can put them up on our class page to show off your amazing work.

If you don't want to make a 3D diorama of the rainforest, you can just paint a picture with all of the animals and trees.

You can make up your own ideas and get creative.

You don't have to follow these instructions exactly. You can make up your own way to create your own beautiful colourful bird painting.

Instead of yellow die, like they suggest, you could just use yellow paint/marker/pencil/crayon/paper.

If you don't have watercolours, just add a bit of water to your normal paint to make it watery.

Easter Art Ideas

Have a look at Art for kids Hub on YouTube and Art Projects for Kids for some ideas for art activities and projects.
